" Was The Iceman being satirical when he tried to tell jokes? Or was it  a way of keeping an audience? The early Blocks were pure physical mayhem and might be regarded as "pure performance art". Gilbert and George's wry take on Gordon's Gin with its verbal repetition is more stylised than The Iceman but has a simlilar ludicrous, comic quality. Similarly Bruce McLean's "Good Manners and Physical Violence" had a comic edge which is similar in a way to The Iceman's own sculptural quality. In his later Blocks, The Iceman carried out a desperate running commentary on the Block-melting process which was very different from Gilbert and George's more laconic delivery."[Kafe Smictiric-art critic]
