"Joseph Beuys believed that every human being was an artist, and that every considered action constituted a work of art. As far as I know, The Iceman is "human".  How considered is the work of The Iceman? Some would say not at all, others that the unpredictable behaviour of  the Block itself in relation to The Iceman puts it centre stage, demanding instant consideration-in a sense upstaging the artist. So there is consideration within the concept. The Iceman makes art, in my opinion, through his sheer presence but also through the actions applied to the Ice-block and the intimate relation of The Iceman's body to the Block in space. Moreover the multiplicity of agents that The Iceman uses to affect the Block and therefore literally the audience provoke spontaneous reactions and changes in shape of both audience and Block. The outcome for both audience and Block are difficult to determine in advance. I imagine the performer himself is often surprised-maybe it is that pure "unexpectedness" that earns The Iceman's entitlement to be called a "Performance Artist" ." [Kafe Smictiric-art critic]
aim
The "unexpected "if not unlikely disintegration of the The Iceman's Block support system is clearly illustrated in this painting by 'aim'.
