aim
Not many performance artists make the transition from performance to canvas but the Indefatigable Iceman has done just that and is now recognised as a serious painter under the name of "aim". Aim captures the ebb and flow of disconnected ennunciation finding residual fibres of formative experience in every touch of his brush. His repetitive theme irrigates the palpability and psychological material of his own life. A substantitative deconstruction of art history lurks behind his images. There is a tangible emptiness of ossified air, a mature negation of transient, transcentental history. The work begs to be recognised as a statement of self-conscious selfhood. A trajectory of intense appreciation of the universe lurks deep within every picture of aim's. It begs the question -where and what is light? Containing disundating reconstitution and altruistic profundities, aim's canvases disturb and move the viewer in equal measure. Pure and evanescent, aim's paintings nevertheless have a narrative that communicates deftly. Self-determining recollections recall incarnated contradictions that merge in the mysterious ice-blocks. The vital experience, the tabula rosa gain traction and then slip away, even as the Iceman stands next to his Blocks. The textures conjure up excavations of early memories. The beauty of the present and the past alight on the Block momentarily. A beguiling triumph reaches out from the roughly laid strokes, welding a significant symbiosis of total meaning. Experienced as I am,I can only stagger out of the gallery in a state of visual exhaustion. [Kafe Smictiric ]
